Objective: Students will be able to recognize cause-and-effect relationships.

Essential Questions:

  1. What is a cause?
  2. What is an effect?
  3. Why is it important to understand cause-and-effect relationships in a story?

Enduring Understandings:

  1. A cause is WHY something happens.
  2. An effect is WHAT happens.
  3. It’s important to understand cause-and-effect relationships in a story because we can use these skills to better comprehend and appreciate the text.
