Class Syllabus – Grades 3-5
Tuesday, December 13, 2022
Objective: Students will be able to read a passage with appropriate speed, accuracy, and emotion.
Essential Questions:
- How can I make sure that I don’t read like a robot?
- What does it mean to scoop sentences?
- How can reading fluently help me to be a better reader?
Enduring Understandings:
- To make sure you don’t read like a robot, you can figure out what parts in the sentence relate to one another. Then, you can read them together in a clear, fluid voice.
- Scooping sentences means putting particular phrases with words that have similar meanings or parts of speech and saying them together with unity.
- Reading fluidly can help students be better readers because it is easier to comprehend emotion and plot in a story.
