Objective: Students will be able to read a passage with appropriate speed, accuracy, and emotion.
Essential Questions:
- Why is it important to recognize tone in a passage?
- How can reading with emotion and confidence help comprehension?
Enduring Understandings:
- Tone allows the reader to better understand the emotions that the characters are feeling and the attitude the author has toward the writing.
- Reading with emotion can help students to understand the tone in the passage and relate more clearly to the events.
Standards:
Grade 6: CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.RL.6.10 By the end of the year, read and comprehend literature, including stories, dramas, and poems, in the grades 6-8 text complexity band proficiently, with scaffolding as needed at the high end of the range.
Grade 7: CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.RL.7.10 By the end of the year, read and comprehend literature, including stories, dramas, and poems, in the grades 6-8 text complexity band proficiently, with scaffolding as needed at the high end of the range.
