In April 2022, Allyson Felix announced that this would be her last year of sprinting and being a competitive athlete. As she was such an icon, she will forever be missed in the sport, and she has achieved much more than just being an athlete. But that doesn’t mean her athletic achievements aren’t impressive.
Felix was able to become a professional sprinter at the young age of just 17! Within a few years she won 2 bronze medals for the USA.
Another achievement she made was winning more World Championship Medals than anyone else: A total of 19 medals in just 5 events, 13 of them being gold.
Surprising, isn’t it? But it doesn’t stop there. Felix has won more Olympic medals than any other American in track and field, taking 7 golds and 11 total medals home.
It’s not just her athletic achievements that are impressive; she also has many other achievements outside of sports. Felix is great in business too. Felix parted ways from her old sponsorship with Nike because during her pregnancy, Nike wanted to cut her payment by 70%, which was unfair and too much for her. So, she launched her own shoe company named Saysh. Saysh has made many sponsorships with other athletic brands like Athleta.
Another reason is the birth of her daughter. This is because her own daughter Camryn, was born premature; she spent her first month in intensive care. This inspired Felix to start pushing for maternity rights for women.
Felix also donates to children’s charities and is continuing to push her campaign for maternal rights.
Even though Allyson Felix will be retiring from sports soon, she will still be making big accomplishments not just on the track field, but in business and court too!
