Scientists Find Way to Turn Food Waste into ‘Edible Cement’

By: Lian Zhu

What do you normally do when you can’t finish your food? I bet it goes straight in the trash bin.

Did you know that scientists are finding a way to turn left over food into Edible Cement? Yes! They are turning food into cement. The vegetables you eat every day can be turned into cement. The leaves of some vegetables are made with material that can be stronger than cement itself! It turns out that vegetables are very strong.

There are a lot of vegetables that scientists use to make cement. If you wonder what the strongest vegetable is, it turns out to be a cabbage. This vegetable is said to be four times as strong as cement.

The first step to make cement is to dry out the food and crush it into powder. The last step is to stuff it into a mold tightly.

This cement is odd but strong. If you want to take a bite or not, it can definitely change our future. Scientists are always trying to take care of our planet.
