Mars, a cold desert and the fourth planet that orbits around the sun. Mars, a very dusty planet, that astronauts are searching because they think that humans can live there. Astronaut’s main suspect for houses is caves, especially subterranean caves.
Astronauts just started to search for houses on Mars. Scientists say that if humans are going to move on Mars, then they would have to move into subterranean caves. Subterranean caves are rock hollows on both the Earth and the Moon. Researchers at the Geological Society of America found at least nine caves that are accessible to humans. All caves extend at least some distance underground, and all close to landing sites accessible to a lightweight rover.
To explain why humans must be underground, Nicole Bardabelias, a geoscientist at the University of Arizona said, “Everything at the surface is subject to harsh radiation, possible meteorite or micrometeorite bombardment and really large day-to-night temperature swings.”
The researchers require that a cave is within roughly 60 miles of a suitable spacecraft landing site. Ms. Bardabelias and her collaborators thought that a suitable landing site is below an elevation of roughly 3,300 feet. “Such relatively low-lying locales are favorable landing sites because they give spacecraft more time to slow down as they travel through Mars’ thin atmosphere,” Ms. Bardabelias said. Second, they stipulated that high-resolution imagery be available.
But, “Mars has just enough atmosphere that you can’t discount it, but not enough to actually give you a significant amount of aerobraking,” she said, so if you if you do not have enough space between when you land at the top of the atmosphere and where you are supposed to land, it’s going to be very, very hard for you to do the arrival, drop and landing sequence properly.
Astronauts and scientists are working very hard to live on Mars and their hard work is paying off! They already know there are main caves to live in and a lot of facts that they need to know. Those facts are thar they know the surface and what caves are good for living in. This might seem like a lot of stuff but they still have a lot of things to do. Like, nine caves aren’t going to fit 7.8 billion people right?
