Coming to screens on July 10, 2026, the live action Moana Movie has an amazing cast. 17-year old Catherine Laga’aia will be playing Moana and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, who also voiced the demigod Maui in the first animated Moana movie, will also appear. Furthermore, much to the delight of many fans, Moana 2 is also coming out on November 27 this year!

Catherine Laga’aia is from Sydney, Australia and she is very excited to be in the film, especially because she has Moana’s Polynesian heritage. “My grandfather comes from Fa’aala, Palauli, in Savai’i, and my grandmother is from Leulumoega Tuai on the main island of ‘Upolu in Samoa,” she said. Dwayne is also excited in his own way. “I’m deeply humbled and overcome with gratitude to bring the beautiful story of ‘Moana’ to the live-action big screen,” he said. “This story is my culture, and this story is emblematic of our people’s grace and warrior strength.” Disney says that the film will showcase “a young woman eager to pave her own path.”

In addition to the live action release, Moana 2 also has some exciting news to share. There are many familiar faces including Moana, Maui, Heidi, and Pua, who didn’t get that much screen time in the first Moana movie. There is also a new character introduced named Moni that joins their adventure.

A lot of people are excited to see the new Moana movies, and fans are ready to sail along with Moana and the crew in their adventure.
