Dear Mr. Von Drehle,
I am writing this letter regarding your article about female athletes’ clothes.
First, I like how you presented your article and listed details about female athletes’ wear, the history of athletic clothing and how it is unfair that female competitors are required to wear this certain type of clothing.
I agree with you because I don’t think it would be fair to have women be required to wear something they aren’t comfortable in. I’m a female athlete in swimming, dancing, and gymnastics, and I don’t want to wear something that I’m not used to and not comfortable in. I want to choose what I want to wear, and I strongly agree that female athletes are capable of deciding what they should wear.
Lastly, sports are about the athletes, not the looks or clothing. For example, if there was a gymnast who had a very nice and fancy outfit, but okay technique, and another gymnast that had a plain outfit but wonderful technique, who would you choose? I would choose the one with the great techniques because sports is about how the athletes do the sport, and not how they look.
