Simone Biles received her fourth gold medal, all the more impressive after recovering from a mistake of positioning herself incorrectly. She scored more than a full point over Rebeca Andrade.

She performed the world’s most difficult vault, the Yurchenko double pike, which no other woman has ever done before. It gave her 8/10th of a point over her competitor, Rebeca Andrade, who won the silver medal. Andrade performed a vault called the Cheng.

However, Biles made a mistake on the uneven bars by positioning herself incorrectly on a transition to the low bar, and she had to bend her legs so she wouldn’t hit the mat. The mistake left her in third place halfway through the competition.

Her amazing floor routine cemented her lead. It included two skills: a triple-twisting double back flip with her knees tucked to her chest, and a half-twisting double back flip with her body straight. Andrade, Biles’ greatest competitor, stepped out of bounds, but still got second.

Suni Lee, her teammate and the all-around champion, got a bronze medal. She started with a full-twisting double backflip and landed really well. After the last score was announced, they were holding up an American flag.
