Simone Biles Wins Sixth Olympic Gold

By: Elaine Li

Despite not finishing the 2021 Tokyo Olympic Games, Biles is back and leads her team to a gold. Her teammates and Biles call it the redemption tour for not winning the last Olympic competition.

Simone competed in the vault, uneven bars, balance beam, and a spectacular floor routine. Lady Gaga, Ariana Grande, Tom Cruise and many other celebrities were there to watch Biles perform.

Biles is arguably considered the GOAT of gymnastics and deserves the title. She narrowly defeated her rival Rebeca Andrade of Brazil and became the oldest to ever win the all-around. She delivered her Biles II on the vault and did a beam routine using five skills that were named after her.

She scored a total of 59.566, a score that would have won the last three World Championships. Biles celebrates winning the Olympic Gold by wearing a goat necklace and shows it proudly to the cameras.

Biles admits that she was getting stressed when Andrade caught up, as Biles didn’t compete in the Tokyo Games because of a mental block called “twisties.” She returned to gymnastics two years later.

Biles now adds to her collection of 37 world and Olympic medals, a very impressive stack for a 27-year-old. Simone Biles’s name will certainly be a famous one as she will continue to shine in her sport.
