Skater Chloe Covell Will Compete in Paris Olympics Despite her Fractured Fingers

Two of Cloe Covell’s fingers broke when she was training in LA for the Paris summer Olympics. She is determined to set the world record as the youngest Australian skater to win Gold.
According to Kids News, Covell said, “Yeah, about two weeks ago I fractured both of my fingers when I was training in LA. It was just a freak incident, I just slipped out and they (the ring and little finger) fully bent back.”

Even though she has two fractured fingers, that isn’t enough to keep her from going to Paris. It would be worse if she sprained her ankle or broke her wrist.

Covell also said to KidsNews: “Big injuries for me are, like, my wrists. I have little bones and I guess my wrists, the bones chip very easily, and my ankles, they always get chipped quite a bit and I’ve had a couple of stitches and stuff.”

After she left the Main Press Centre, she encountered some of her fans. When she posed for photos, she felt nervous. However, despite the nerves, Covell still has good skill in skating. “Covell has proved an Olympian to watch at this year’s Paris Games. At 14 years and five months, she could replace 1956 Olympian swimmer Sandra Morgan* as Australia’s youngest Olympic gold medallist in history,” KidsNews says.
