Stephen Curry, small but unparalleled, wins Finals MVP

By: Bryan Li

Last Thursday, Stephen Curry won his first Finals MVP award after defeating the Boston Celtics

to win his fourth NBA championship with the Golden State Warriors. This year’s championship presented Curry with many challenges, but even a top-tier Celtics defense

couldn’t stop him. An exceptional person on and off the court, Curry has developed new aspects of basketball.

Over the course of the past eight years, Curry has proved that he always gives his full effort on

the court. Although he is only 6 foot 2, he demonstrates so much talent no matter the defense. As Andre

Iguodala, the team’s forward says, “A guy his height who is vertically challenged, they would say, just –

you saw it; we all saw it. It was just incredible.”

Curry continuously pushes his team forward without touching the ball. Iguodala considers him

as one of the “gods” of the sport, “a very unique talent, generational talent,” he says. Draymond

Green, Golden State’s power forward, thinks “it all starts with Steph.” “When KD was here, our offense

still started with Steph, and that’s the way it’s going to be.”

Having “the Man” as your nickname must feel good, and Curry surely earned that name. He is a two-time regular season MVP, eight-time All-Star, and now, a four-time champion. Curry has consistently shown that he can do many things with the ball, and we all know he is looking for that fifth ring.
