On Saturday, July 27, 2024 morning, Stephen Nedoroscik delivered a breathtaking performance on the pommel horse, earning a bronze medal for the U.S. men’s gymnastics team. As the final competitor in the last rotation, Nedoroscik waited over two hours before taking his turn. With China’s leading team struggling on the horizontal bar, Nedoroscik’s routine was crucial.

Nedoroscik finished his routine with exceptional precision, ending with a score of 14.866 out of 20.00. The crowd at Bercy Arena in Paris erupted in cheers as he finished, and his teammates celebrated his performance with exuberance. Nedoroscik’s score and China’s faltering results propelled the U.S. to third place, their first team medal in 16 years.

The success resulted from the team’s collective effort and strategic overhaul since their fifth-place finish in Tokyo. USA Gymnastics had focused on increasing routine difficulty and consistency. Asher Hong’s strong vault and Frederick Richards’ flawless floor exercise were pivotal in the U.S. moving from fifth to first in the standings. Paul Juda also delivered a critical performance on the high bar.

Another important teammate, Brody Malone, the team’s sole returning Olympian, made an impressive comeback after a severe leg injury. Despite his struggles in qualifications, Malone executed a solid routine and celebrated with his teammates, showing the depth of their determination and resilience.
Nedoroscik’s performance and the team’s overall effort brought a triumphant end to their Olympic campaign, marking a significant achievement for U.S. gymnastics.
