Stolen body parts from Harvard’s Morgue

Cedric Lodge, a former manager from the Harvard Medical School morgue, was caught stealing and selling body parts. On Wednesday, he and his wife, along with several other people, were indicted by federal prosecutors.

Starting in 2018, the body parts were stolen without the school noticing. Harvard cooperated with the authorities for the search.

The Lodges would take the body parts, which included brains, skin, and bones, back to their home. The body parts would then be sent to buyers through the mail. Lodge was also rumored to have let the buyers come to the morgue to pick up the body parts.

Normally, after the donated body parts were used, Harvard would return them to the original family to be cremated. George Daley and Edward Hundert, deans at the school, posted a message on the school website, writing, “We are appalled to learn that something so disturbing could happen on our campus — a community dedicated to healing and serving others. The reported incidents are a betrayal of HMS and, most importantly, each of the individuals who altruistically chose to will their bodies to HMS through the Anatomical Gift Program to advance medical education and research.”

Besides the Lodges, the other three people indicted were Katrina Maclean, Joshua Taylor, and Matthew Lampi, all located in different states.

According to the prosecutors, not only was the HMS morgue robbed, but body parts from a morgue in Arkansas were also stolen.

Denise Lodge has already made her court appearance and was released on personal bail. Cedric Lodge will make his court appearance on Wednesday.
