In the recent Olympic gold medal final, McLaughlin broke the record again, the fourth time she has broken the record in the last two years. She spent 50.68 seconds to win her first world championship, which is extraordinarily better than the second-place finisher, Femke Bol, 52.27 seconds, and the third place Muhammad finished in 53.13 seconds.
Although it seems like two seconds gap may not seem long, McLaughlin’s level is way above other athletes competing with her. McLaughlin has defeated the other two athletes who are advanced in the sport by passing ten hurdles from the other two people. She also improved her world record by 0.73 seconds.
McLaughlin said, “I think we’re all figuring out that there are ten barriers, but we can run them a lot faster than people think. I still think that wasn’t even a super clean race.”
A long time ago, McLaughlin had some challenging matches just like the graceful runner Dalilah Muhammad, who has a series of impressive achievements in the sport 400 meters hurdles.
McLaughlin has raised her level to a brand-new stage over the past few decades. She broke the world record many times and became the dominant person in the sport. She has outperformed many other athletes in the sport through her significant improvement, breaking boundaries.
In the future, Mclaughlin is going to have one opponent, herself. No one can imagine how McLaughlin will surprise the world again in the future, perhaps even with a brand-new world record.
