Taylor Alison Swift’s new album that was released in April 2024, “The Tortured Poets Departments,” has been at the Number 1 position on the Billboard 200 album chart consecutively for 11 weeks with record-breaking numbers. The last female artist to ever do this was Whitney Houston with her album “The Bodyguard” in 1992 to 1993.
“The Tortured Poets Departments” has made 114,000 sales across all of the United States just last week, and also has had 102 million streams and 35,000 sales as a complete package as well. The album has never fallen under 100 million weekly clicks.
Furthermore, Taylor Swift’s “The Tortured Poets Departments” has topped all her other albums. Both albums “Fearless,” which was published in 2008, and “1989,” which was published in 2014, have been at the top for 11 weeks, but not consecutively. These two albums both bobbed in and out of the top position, unlike “The Tortured Poets Department.”
Taylor Swift’s albums have won many awards. Her 2022 album “Midnights” won the Grammy award for “Album of the Year” in 2024. Now, Swift has won that Grammy award four times, being the first artist to ever do so.
Taylor Swift also was Time Magazine’s “Person of the Year” in December of 2023. This happened after a music streaming platform, Spotify, announced that Swift was the most-played artist.
