This Friday, authorities arrested a 75-year-old man, who was convicted of numerous 1980
murders.
Detectives have arrested Billy Ray Richardson after using DNA evidence to link him to multiple
murders that were unsolved, including the deaths of, Kari Lenander, Beverly Cruse, and her
sister, Debra Cruse, as well as Trina Wilson. All of these young women were also reportedly
raped, says the officials.
The DNA evidence was the main method of tying the crimes to Billy Richardson.
However, the authorities still didn’t show the new evidence that led to him, so it was unclear
whether Billy had anything to do with the victims.
At the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office, Richardson was charged last Thursday
with multiple counts of murder and other related charges, such as rape. He was sent to jail in
Texas, awaiting trial.
George Gascon, who is the Los Angeles district attorney, said that he was grateful for those who had worked on the case, saying that he couldn’t “imagine the pain that these families have endured. Their loss is immeasurable. We hope that together we can bring justice to the families who have endured so much and have waited years for this moment.”
