Ever heard of OMG or LOL? These phrases mean something and are just a short version.

People are using abbreviations more and more to communicate. Abbreviations started in the 2000s, but they are getting even more popular as time goes on. Everyone using English to text is probably familiar with these abbreviations.

Abbreviations speed up communication a lot. It uses less letters and less time than typing everything out. Typing a whole sentence can take forever for some people, so text abbreviations can help you if you type slowly. And even if you don’t want to use them, it is still good to know what they mean so you can have conversations with those who do.

In this article you can learn how to use abbreviations and what they mean.

First there is OMG.It means Oh My God! It can be used as in “OMG! The famous actor is finally coming to our state!”

Second there is BC.It means because.For example,”I went to the doctor bc i was not well”

Also there is Thx.It means thank you. Like in”Thx for the gift!”.

Finally, there is IDK.It means I don’t know. It usually is used by saying”IDk what it means.”It is also similar to DK(don’t know) and dc(Don’t care)

Abbreviations are nice because it is a new way to talk with friends. Also it was used when there were limited character space for messages so they used Text abbreviations to use less words.
