The Adventure of a Lifetime

By: Sara Jia

One rainy night on the weekend, Ethan was home alone playing video games. As time ticked by, Ethan thought about what his mother said before he left; don’t play for too long, get ready for bed at nine. But Ethan decided to continue playing and ignore his mother. As it got darker outside, Ethan grew more tired but didn’t want to stop playing.

After he finishes a level, he sees a black hole on the screen sucking in the level. And magically, Ethan got sucked in! As he struggles to avoid bumping into things, he finally sees the light! He lands on a round rock. Then, the rock suddenly moved! Turns out, it’s not a rock but a winged turtle. “Hello, who are you?” asked the turtle in a high-pitched voice. “I’m confused- I mean I’m Ethan, but where am I?” replied Ethan. “You’re in the Greenland Forests, if you are lost I can guide you back to town Greenland,” said the Turtle. “I am, thank you,” replied Ethan. “I’m sorry I never asked but what is your name?,” asked Ethan “It’s Pebble,” the turtle replied smiling.

On the way to the town of Greenland, pebble told Ethan about Queen Lola, King Theo, and their missing daughter, Starla. And Ethan tells Pebble about suddenly landing here and needing to go home. When they arrived at the town Ethan was amazed to find that everything was mosaic – the houses, the floor, the fountains, and even the castle!“I have to go back to my family now,” says Pebble. “Goodbye and thank you again,” replies Ethan. Ethan walks up to the castle and knocks on the giant doors. Ethan tells the King and Queen about his troubles but King Theo says he will only let him go home if he finds their missing princess, Starla. So Ethan sets off to find Starla.

Ethan searched for hours in the Greenland Forest until he came across this old cottage. He is tired and hungry so he decides to go knock on the door. “It can’t get worse can it?” Ethan mutters to himself. Inside he finds Princess Starla trapped in a cage! He starts trying to find the key but then an old voice says, “Are you looking for this?” and holds up the key. “Yes,” exclaims Ethan. “I am Hagatha, a witch,” says the old woman creepily. Ethan immediately freaks out and grabs anything his hands can reach which happens to be a hand mirror. Hagatha casts a spell and it hits the hand mirror that Ethan was holding. The spell bounces off the mirror and hits the witch instead. Hagatha bursts into a million pieces and a key clatters onto the ground. Ethan uses the key to free Princess Starla and starts their journey back to the castle.

Once they returned to the castle, Princess Starla immediately ran to her parent’s hands into a warm embrace. The King gratefully gave him the title of a hero and sent him into a portal. When Ethan stepped into the portal, everything went black. And when he opened his eyelids again, he was on the couch back in his house in front of the tv in the morning. Ethan realizes that his whole adventure in Greenland was just a dream.
