Imagine yourself in a new, but seemingly familiar place only to find that when you step outside the house, you find yourself suspended over a desert, by hundreds of colorful balloons. Believe or not this is a real place located in Abiquiu, New Mexico.
Airbnb has recently added a new addition to their icon’s series which is the floating house from the movie Up. You can find this in a desert in Abiquiu, New Mexico.
The house is, of course, not actually lifted by balloons, but rather a giant crane. For anyone who might be worried that the house might not function properly as it is literally in the sky, Airbnb says that,”the house is fully functional,”.
Of course, since it was made to replicate the house from Up,you can expect to find many Easter eggs and references to the movie itself inside its walls.
Surprisingly enough, the cost is under 100 dollars, which is relatively affordable considering the fact the house is literally in the sky. People who will be able to book this floating house in the sky will be decided using a lottery system.
One of the reasons Airbnb is doing this is to keep up in an increasingly competitive rental market. They also created the icon series to try to draw attention away from things like hidden cost and the inconvenience a rental causes the nearby residents.
Amongst other Airbnbs that are part of the Icon series are a replica of Shrek’s home from the movie Shrek that can be found in the Scottish highlands, Christina Aguilera’s Las Vegas mansion, and a few others.
