The pigs had been dead for an hour. Scientists made their hearts beat again.

Have you ever been to a farm? If you did, you probably saw a pig, but I bet that you have never seen dead pigs. That’s very rare, plus the farmers wouldn’t show dead pigs to you.

Dead pigs were put inside of a machine called ECMO. The machine generated oxygen outside of the blood. By the end of 6 hours, the scientists found out that there was a sufficient amount of oxygen to function the pigs’ organs, such as their heart, liver, and kidney. The team has fully functioned the brain for 4 hours.

When looking through the microscope, it was very hard to tell the differences between healthy organs and the ones treated by OrganEx. Some organs might be lost but can be repaired and replaced.

Since technology is improving, we humans won’t have to worry about any brain damage or organ loss.
