The Recent Presidential Debate Has Revealed Many Underlying Concerns Joe Biden’s Potential Reelection

By: Ivan Wang

On June 27, a presidential debate between Biden and Trump was held at CNN’s Atlanta Studios. The goal of this debate was to prove that Joe Biden was still fit to be president, but it only made matters worse for him.

Before this debate, voters already doubted that Biden would be a good president, considering he is the oldest president, at 81. The recent debate only increased their doubt, as it was clear he was struggling to hold his ground against Trump’s attacks. This was shown clearly when he took long pauses between his sentences, and was slow to react to Trump’s attacks against him.

During the debate Biden and Trump discussed immigration, the U.S economy, abortion, foreign policy, inflation, and many other things.

When talking about the economy, Trump claimed that while he was president, the U.S economy was at its greatest, which he used as an attack against Biden during the debate. Biden, however, retaliated by bringing up Trump’s criminal conviction. In response to this, Trump brought up that Joe Biden’s son, Hunter, was also recently convicted. Biden then accused Trump of having an affair with a porn star while his wife was pregnant. Trump simply said,”I didn’t have sex with a porn star”.

This debate was the earliest debate in modern U.S history, which was what Biden’s team wanted. The reason they wanted this was to shift the focus to Trump’s problems, which backfired on them, as now people are focusing on Biden’s problems. The second motive was to prove he still had the necessary energy and stamina to govern the country, which he clearly didn’t.
