July 14 2024, was the finals of the Euro, and Spain beat England 2-1, winning the cup. The Euro is a popular soccer event held in Europe every four years, and this time, it was hosted by Germany in a total of 10 cities. 24 European teams qualified this year. The finals were hosted in Berlin, Germany.
One of the more notable players on Spain’s team is Lamine Yamal, Spain’s 16-year-old forward. Lamine Yamal is very young for a player in the Euro. This makes it extra impressive that he made good contributions to the final strike of the game. Lamine Yamal passed the ball to Nico Williams, and Nico Williams scored the winning goal. When the Spanish team won the game, Lamine Yamal was very excited and could not contain his energy.
Once a team wins the Euro Cup each of them gets to lift the cup. Lifting the cup is a great achievement and honor. The King of Spain, Felipe VI, also came to the game and lifted the cup. When he finished it, Felipe gave the cup to Lamine Yamal, a very special moment for young Lamine.
Spain’s win caused England, also in the finals, to suffer a great defeat.
The Spanish soccer team hasn’t had a victory like this since 2012 in another European championship. This was unexpected, in a bad way, because Spain won the Euro 2008, 2010 FIFA World Cup, and Euro 2012. These are achievements to be reckoned with, and it lands them as the only team to get three consecutive major wins.
At the beginning of the Euro this year, Spain was considered the second-best team, but now they are one of the best, if not the best, soccer teams in Europe. This massive achievement led to the Spanish team doing a large Celebratory ritual.
