The Three Dimensions

By: Emma Wang

Once, there were forests the size of continents. There had been places where habitats visibly merged, and secret underground cities befriended the most dangerous creatures in existence. There were three different dimensions, each with its own borders. The first one, which is the one we currently reside in, is called the Overworld. It is an infinite land, making it impossible to finish exploring. It bears the basic village settlements, but also has secret underground cities made entirely of stone which are the home to the most dangerous creatures in all three dimensions–Wardens. The second was what many would call the Underworld, but is actually called the Crimson Land. There, beds are more explosive than a can of propane and the three-headed monster, the Spirit of the Dead, resides. The third is called the Land of the Ender. That is where one of the largest threats to the Overworld exists: the Winged Sphinx of the Ender. The smaller monsters, such as skeletons, zombies, and creepers have been unusually active. It had been a century since the last time the three monsters had been defeated, meaning that they would be active very soon–or even now. If they were allowed to rampage in their dimensions, the peace that created balance between the worlds would be broken–and chaos would rule throughout. The dimensions would wage war on each other–eventually leading to the ultimate destruction of the three worlds. Now, two warriors from each village must protect the village with their lives.

In Cherry Blossom Village, the two warriors sent were Ari and Sam. They were in charge of defeating the warden underneath Wickercap Mountain, where the last generation of warriors defeated a warden. The Warden’s only weakness was that it was blind–however, it could hear you walking, attacking, detect the slightest vibrations, and can send off attacks that can instantly kill someone. Therefore, Ari and Sam took the best armor and weapons in the village and set off. As the craftsmen in the village were extremely skilled, they were able to craft a set that was almost invincible. As they were riding the fastest horses in the village, they quickly arrived at their destination–only to find a cave. The warriors made their way down, and found a place overgrown with what looked like black fungus with glowing blue spots. Noticing the stone structures scattered around them, they knew that they were in the right place.

Sam and Ari were making decent progress–until everything went dark. Seconds after, there was a beam of blinding blue light that narrowly missed them by inches. The Warden had noticed them. Creeping out from behind the rock they had ducked behind, they saw the ugliest thing they had ever seen. It had two glowing blue horns, a mouth that took up practically its entire face, an exposed rib cage with something blue and pulsing inside it, and arms and legs that were too big for its body.

The warriors threw their spears, which caused it to stagger slightly, but did not do much else. Despite this, the pair was still determined to live. After the warden shot another beam of blue light, creating an explosion somewhere behind them, they nocked their bows and shot their arrows. While the warden was momentarily distracted, they attacked. However, when the warden swiped its humongous arm at them and almost shaved the hair off of Sam’s head, they retreated and went back to shooting arrows. Unfortunately, when the warden shot another beam of light, it grazed Ari’s arm and she almost knocked their last quiver of arrows aside in her panic and pain.

After the warriors ran out of arrows, they knew they probably couldn’t just run up and attack. Just then, two more silhouettes came along–backups from Sunset Village. As the backups had more weapons at the ready, they took down the warden easily–and each returned to their villages.

Sam and Ari, along with the backups, were treated as heroes, and were respected for the rest of their lives for bringing safety and balance to the Overworld.
