This summer, three women at the peak of their powers have led a spectacular pop culture revival. Beyoncé Knowles-Carter, an American singer, is currently on her Renaissance World Tour. Margot Robbie stars in Greta Gerwig’s Barbie movie, and Taylor Swift is on her Eras Tour.
Multiple records have been broken spontaneously by these three women. According to Black Enterprise, “Beyoncé was the first woman in four years—and the first Black woman—to reach No. 1 on the music data(Spotify, etc..) platform’s Top Tour Charts”. The movie that Margot Robbie starred in, Barbie, is the first billion-dollar blockbuster to be solely directed by a woman. Countless fans of Taylor Swift’s Era tour in Los Angles have caused an earthquake with sound, breaking another record.
The two tours by Beyoncé and Swift have amassed spectacular amounts of money, and have also boosted the local economy of their tours by a lot. According to the California Center for Jobs, after the six days that Taylor Swift stayed in Los Angeles, there was a $320 million bump to the Los Angeles GDP. Additionally, the area’s employment shall increase by 3,300 people and local earnings shall increase by $160 million. All the cities that she has visited have reported major increases in their economy. The value of the increase caused by the Taylor Swift Eras Tour is estimated to be around $5 billion in total.
Meanwhile, the hype of pink is widespread, and not just by a little. Shockingly, the Barbie movie has attracted innumerable women — and men–into the theatres, wearing multiple shades of pink, excited for the movie. Margot Robbie stars as Barbie in the movie, who is on a quest to become whole again.
Among the fun, there has been political turmoil and events, but the mood of people has not been damped. Many kept a fun and cheerful attitude towards the events. While there may be heat this summer, the excitement is unparalleled. Women have been at the center stage for this summer, and have broken many records.
