TikTok Sells a Lot of Books. Now, Its Owner Wants to Publish Them, too.

Books are a tool enjoyed by all ages – whether used for learning, relaxing, or thinking. TikTok is becoming widespread, and all ages are beginning to use it. So, it is quite normal for books to circulate on the app as well. The parent company of TikTok, ByteDance, helped create some of the biggest bestsellers on the market. The company also offers comprehensive online marketing services.

“This could be the next big thing,” Mariah Dietz, a self-published romance author, said of ByteDance’s publishing arm.

The company has already altered the way books are published online. The company has the potential to sell a wide variety of bestsellers. In the past year, videos with the #BookTok hashtag have been viewed more than 91 billion times, up from nearly 60 billion views the year before.

The platform has captured many authors, one being Colleen Hoover, who made it to the bestseller list. Posts tagged #ColleenHoover have been viewed more than 4 billion times, and her books have sold more than 24 million copies.

Sales are driven by more than 100 authors and have gone up nearly 40 percent this year. [I would put another sentence here.]

ByteDance filed a trademark for a publisher, 8th Note Press, in late April, describing themselves as a company that provides a wide range of book publishing products and services. It would create a matrix where people could buy, find, read, review, discuss, and publish books.

However, as great as this seems, it has also raised concerns. [I would do one more bit of analysis here before moving on to the examples. Who is concerned?]

ByteDance could put its attention on its own projects, leaving less room for other books and posts that would go viral naturally. In response to a question about its promotional plans, the company said that 8th Note Press was separate from TikTok.

BookTok provides a new way of promoting your book, and it is highly likely that if your book is good, you will get it published. No more convincing publishers that your book is great.
