On June 11th in Montauk, New York, TikTok star Remi Bader was turned away from a ranch due to her being over 240 pounds.
According to News.com.au, “Remi, who is known for her body positive content and has more than 2 million TikTok followers, was on an influencer trip organized by Jon Bon Jovi and his son Jesse’s company – Hampton Water Wine.”
After being brought to the horseback riding ranch, Remi Bader was fat shamed and wasn’t allowed to ride a horse. Following that, a cruel employee made a TikTok laughing and saying that if Remi wasn’t so fat, she could have ridden a horse.
A day after that video, the employee posted another video apologizing, though it seems he didn’t really care and was only worried about the ranch’s reputation. The owners also posted an apologetic note saying, “[i]t has come to our attention that a TikTok video was posted regarding the ranch and a teenage employee posted a response that in no way represents nor is aligned with the views that the owners of the ranch hold. We would like to apologize to anyone who this offended and we do not condone or agree with any part of that employee’s video.”
“Since making her followers aware of the incident, the ranch has been receiving harsh reviews on Yelp, and Keogh is being personally attacked as well. Meanwhile, Bader is taking the high road by sharing her thoughts on the incident,” Temptation Island stated.
A guide on the Deep Hollow Ranch blog stated that “[a] rider should not be more than 15 percent of the horses’ weight.” Even though this was stated online, it seems that no information was given on weight restrictions otherwise.
The company Remi was working with, Hampton Water Wine, released a statement saying that they would never work with the Deep Hollow Ranch again, due to the fact that they shamed one of their dear friends.
