Time Traveling

On the Fitz

Time Traveling

By: Vivian Hu

I was SOOO bored. I spent an hour reading and now then I felt dizzy. Maybe if I went outside, I wouldn’t be so dizzy anymore, I thought. So, I went outside, and breathed in the fresh smell of flowers.

I was right, it did make me less dizzy. Before I could think another thought, suddenly a giant cave in my backyard caught my eye. I slowly peeked in. It looked like a regular cave, but who knows? Maybe some wild animal lived in there.

I shuddered at the thought. I should bring somebody with me to explore the cave, I thought. Oh! I should take Emily. Emily isn’t afraid of anything. Not fire breathing dragons, not kings and queens yelling, nothing.

When Emily saw the giant cave, she gasped in surprise. “Why is there a giant cave there, Arcadia?” Emily asked. “I didn’t see that before.”

I quickly figured out she was right. We went in and saw plants full of spikes. Ouch! We went back out and got our boots. It was hot wearing them, but at least we were protected.

Once I got in, I felt really dizzy againm, so I closed my eyes and imagined I was being sucked into a hole, or maybe a portal. When I opened my eyes, we were in a room full of crowns, rings, and dresses.

Where were we? I saw a nearby boy reading a newspaper. “Where are we and what’s the date?” I asked.

The boy’s reply was “It is April 9th, 1901. And we are in England ruled by Queen Victoria.” I put my hand to my mouth to stifle the gasp that came out of my mouth.

We walked away and cuddled in a small corner. “Arcadia, should we go back?” Emily asked. Yes, I nodded my head. We went back into the cave, and we got back!

“Arcadia! Wake up!” Mom shouted. Was that really just a dream?
