Last November, a level 1 typhoon hit the Philippines, killing over 100 people, as and flooding many villages.
Tropical storm Nalgae also hit Hong Kong and Macau. This typhoon was massive and very severe. The worst impact was in the village of Kusiong in Maguindanaos’ Datu Odin Sinsuat town where there was a mudslide that buried dozens of houses with up to 60 people. The Philippines has about 20 typhoons and storms each year. The location near the volcanic eruptions causes it to be more disaster-prone. This is one of the worst weather-related disasters.
Maguindanao alone had 67 deaths. There were heavy rains that came out of nowhere. Floodwaters rose and residents had to climb onto their roofs to be rescued.
