Trump makes appearance after failed assassination attempt

By: Wesley Zhao

After a failed assassination attempt by Thomas Matthew Crooks, a 20-year-old from Pennsylvania, Donald Trump was sent to the hospital and spoke at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

During his speech, he said that he was thankful to be alive and thanked the people that helped him.

Before the assassination attempt, there was already a tactical team waiting for the gunman to shoot. Crook’s attack injured 2 people and killed one also. The Secret Service shot him right after he shot Trump.

The Secret Service is the former or current president’s bodyguard and protects him wherever he goes. There are people with guns on roofs waiting to attack if the president is attacked by anyone. They also protect the president’s family to make sure nobody can take them hostage.

In the US, gun control laws allow people over the age of 18 to purchase guns, which can be very dangerous. Americans are 26 times more likely to get shot than citizens of every other country.

At the convention, it was announced that Donald Trump had named JD Vance, a senator from Ohio, to be his running mate. This means he’ll become vice-president if Trump wins the election.
