Lawyer M. Evan Corcoran, who accompanied Trump to court this week for trying to overrun the 2020 election, has given important evidence on Trump illegally hoarding classified documents on August 5 in Miami. No one knows the reason why Trump illegally hoarded the classified documents.
A lawyer close to Trump, Boris Epshteyn, was in an interview. His lawyer, Todd Blanche, is defending Trump for both trying to overthrow the election and for hoarding the classified documents. Trump’s legal team is in such a mess they have potential conflicts and overlapping interests on hand, and while trying to solve all of them Jack Smith’s office is getting confused and asking questions. Jack Smith is the special counsel of the United States Departments of Justice. The documents were of Iran, which the indictment describes as presentation concerning military activity in a foreign country.
In the article, it says “All of that sits atop another thorny fact: Many of the lawyers are being paid by Save America PAC, Mr. Trump’s political action committee, which has itself been under government scrutiny for months.” Many lawyers are being paid, so they might not even care about what happens to Trump. They just get the money and do what they say. So, some of the lawyers might not even be telling the truth. Some defending Trump might only be defending him because they are being paid to. Some lawyers accusing Trump might just be accusing him of the money. People are questioning Trump’s lawyer’s because they are not being loyal to him, and Trump said he valued loyalty over everything else.
Clients might choose to stick with their lawyer even when they are in a fight, but prosecutors under Jack Smith had a warning flare. They asked a judge to hold a hearing regarding potential conflicts. Mr. Woodward represents Walt Nauta, Trump’s personal aide. He has worked for three witnesses who could be called at the trial. One of those witnesses is working at Trump’s private club and residence in Florida, so this will possibly affect Trump’s private club. That witness also provided the prosecutors with crucial evidence about Mr. Nauta and him parting ways from Mr. Woodward and getting a new lawyer.
Trump’s legal team is in a very uncomfortable condition, having to decide whether to defend him or not, arguing about each other’s personal interests, and even potential conflicts. Trump himself might be worried as well because he is going to court for hoarding documents and trying to overthrow the 2020 election. There is also a trial that could affect Trump.
