How often does one or two sets of twins graduate in the same year? Then, how often do 23 sets of twins graduate in the same school year? Well at this school, twins make up 10% of all the people graduating.
The headteacher Tamatha Bibbo claimed to have never seen this many sets of twins graduating in the same year. Many teachers thought it was quite unusual to see 23 sets of twins graduating in the same year. Mostly the school would only get a few sets of twins, but 23 sets is definitely a first.
How rare is this to happen? According to the National Centre for Health Statistics, twins occur in 3% of births in the U.S. In the UK, non-identical twins have one in 112 of a chance of being born, and identical twins have one in 250 of a chance. It is therefor very unlikely and rare for twins to even be born.
Tamatha Bibbo said there were 450 to 500 children in each grade. Considering this, having 23 total sets of twins hardly ever happens. In fact, the probability of this happening is much less than 0.1 %.
Many people are surprised and flabbergasted to see that many twins graduating at the same time. When will this ever happen again?
