Twilight Series, the Book I Connected with

By: Olivia Ho

Bella was backed into a dark alleyway and a group of men started to follow her, as she turned some other men blocked her path out. Her heart started to beat rapidly and she thought about what to do. Punch them, she thought, punch them right in the nose, because no matter what it would hurt. Then after that, you can run. Suddenly a Volvo went by and then screeched as it turned so it was right before me. “Get in,” said the driver. Without thinking she opened the car door and slammed it rushingly putting on her seatbelt.

The Twilight Series is the book that I was recommended over and over again. After the first page of the book, I couldn’t put my book down. It became so enthralling I had to read it. When I couldn’t find one of the books in the series I would go to my computer and read it online. I love this series and here is why.

Twilight is a very realistic book despite the situation, the emotions are strong and relatable and so are the actions. The books hits our most sensitive emotions like grief and love. Even if the book isn’t from Edward’s point of view we can understand how he loves Bella so much that he would do anything to keep her safe.

Bella is just as passionate. When Bella is away from Edward her emotions are extremely strong, she is lonely and depressed for long periods. This affects Bella’s actions which makes her so realistic as she loses her appetite, her life becomes monotonous and her relationships with her friends start to fail. These emotions are completely relatable and it proves how good this series is.

The series was chosen for the 2009 Kids Choice Award and had many State Awards and Twilight was even named as “ALA Top Ten Books for Young Adults”. The book is extremely popular with many teenagers and it was sold worldwide in 38 languages and sold 120 million copies. Its story is always remembered and continues to entertain and enthrall teenagers with its story.
