US’ gymnastics have won a total of 10 medals, counting men and women. They mostly got bronze. The US got 3 golds, 1 silver, and 6 bronze. The Us men’s team didn’t get a medal since they were up against China in 2008.

Then the US’ 16-year old drought stopped on July 29, 2024. The US came fifth, even with captain Brody Malone falling down during his routines a couple of times.

The only reason why Brody fell down was because he had a knee injury 16 months ago, in March, 2024. He was on the bars, and then his hand slipped and when he stood up, his leg was hurting a lot.

But the injury didn’t matter. The 24 year old helped the team of five improve his own and their score.

“You just got to forget about it,” Malone said of his performance at the trials. “It was over and done with. There’s nothing I can do about it. I just had to focus on the next day, and that’s what we did. And it ended up working out great.”

But for the women’s team, it was different. They had won team gold for many consecutive Olympics, except the Tokyo 2020 Games. They got silver then because Simone Biles didn’t want to participate because she said that she was hurt.

Then Simone Biles told her team that she wasn’t physically hurt and it was a mental disease. Then the Paris Olympics came and it was a chance to earn a gold medal so Simone Biles thought about it and finally said that she was going.

After the 2024 Olympics, people are asking Biles if she is going to the 2028 Olympics, four years in the future.

“Never say never. The next Olympics is at home, so you just never know,” Simone Biles had said.
