USA’s Gymnastics Get Bronze and Gold in the Olympics

By: Elaine Li

At the Paris Olympics the US women’s and men’s team got a total of 10 medals, which included three gold, one silver, and six bronze medals. The men’s gymnastic team hadn’t won a medal in 16 years. The women’s team redeemed the gold medal after failing to do so last year.

The men’s victory had a different story from the qualifying events, where the team captain made mistakes on multiple events. The poor performance probably had something to do with his knee injury that occurred 16 months ago.

Malone commented on his performance saying, “You just got to forget about it, it was over and done with. There’s nothing I can do about it. I just had to focus on the next day, and that’s what we did. And it ended up working out great.”

The women’s gymnastic team had gotten gold in every Olympic game since 1996 but in the Tokyo Games they failed to do so. In 2024, Simone Biles, Sunisa Lee, Jordan Chiles, and Jade Carey finished six points ahead of second place Italy.

In the all-around individual events Biles got gold while Lee got bronze. Chiles got bronze in a floor routine while Biles got silver. Biles also said she might be competing in the 2028 Games, since it will be held in the USA.

USA’s gymnastics did incredibly well in the Paris Olympic Games, and next the Olympic Games will be held in Los Angeles, California where the athletes will continue to shine.
