Winston Churchill’s Famous Painting Stolen in Canadian Hotel

By: JJ G

A portrait of Winston Churchill has been stolen from a hotel in Ottawa, Canada. The people who stole it replaced it with a copy. This heist was kind of like the Hollywood-like heist that was uncovered on August 19, 2022. An employee noticed that the portraits frame did not match another photograph Suspecting they have been the thieves they called Jerry Fielder.

The photographer Yousuf Karsh, because Yousuf Karsh took a picture of the iconic photo. She knew the portrait was fake.

Investigators used phots from the pubic to see when the portrait was swapped out. The public pictures must have helped because this is a very short time span. Genevieve Dumas, the hotel’s manager, thought if you wanted to steal the portrait, because the portrait was in the wall very well. I if the portrait was iconic then the portrait must be stuck into the wall if you do not want somebody to steal it.

It is very odd that this hotel has such a piece like this one. Karsh hosted his first showcase there in 1936 and opened his studio there in 1972. His wife and him moved into this luxurious hotel.

All the pubic and detectives have done good work so far. Hopefully they find the suspects soon.
